Montgomery County Dump Fees and Disposal Guide
Where to take junk yourself around Conroe: county drop-off fees, hazardous waste days, city bulk pickup, and donation options.
- Free to use
- One local company, not a list
- No obligation to hire
Referral website, not the contractor. How it works
Montgomery County's main public drop-off is the Precinct 3 Residential Recycling Facility in Spring, where a pickup load costs $30 for county residents.
Conroe Junk Pros is a referral website, not a junk removal company. We send your request to one independent local junk removal company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
This guide is for people who'd rather haul it themselves, or who want to know what a hauler can and can't take. Every fee and rule below comes from the county, city or state page listed at the end, checked in October 2026. Fees and hours change, so call before you load the truck. If you'd rather have a crew do it, send a request with the form.

What Precinct 3 takes free
Aluminum and steel cans, batteries, bicycles, flattened cardboard, Christmas trees and lights, strained cooking oil, fire extinguishers, food and beverage glass and plastic, oil filters, paper, satellite dishes, scrap metal and wire.
Limited amounts only
Bricks, concrete and asphalt, roofing shingles and tile are accepted for a fee, but only in small quantities: as much as a wheelbarrow full, in containers you can throw away, like buckets, boxes, tubs or heavy-duty bags. A bathroom remodel's tile scraps may fit. A roof tear-off won't. See construction debris removal for bigger jobs.
Not accepted at Precinct 3
Household garbage, ammunition, explosives, medical waste, Styrofoam, radioactive materials, smoke detectors, PCBs, dioxins, mirrors and windows, business waste, pressurized tanks, propane and helium tanks, and dirt, soil, sod or gravel.
Household hazardous waste days
Paint and household chemicals are accepted at Precinct 3 only on Wednesdays and the third Saturday of each month, for $10 per 5 gallons. Don't mix products together. Accepted items include:
- paint, stains and varnishes
- aerosols, adhesives, cleaners and polishes
- automotive fluids: gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze
- fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and pesticides
- pool chemicals
- turpentine, solvents and degreasers
- mercury and craft or hobby chemicals
Some cities run their own collection. The City of Montgomery points residents to WM's At Your Door Special Collection service (800-449-7587) for hard-to-recycle and hazardous items. The City of Willis also offers at-home collection of household special materials to residents. Call your city to confirm whether you qualify.
Items junk haulers usually can't take
Liquid paint. Texas law bans paint and other free liquids from solid waste landfills. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) says that if a can is less than a quarter full, you can remove the lid, let it dry for a few days in a ventilated spot, and put the dry can in the trash. Larger amounts go to a hazardous waste day.
Used oil. TCEQ says used oil can't go in a landfill. TCEQ points people to used oil collection centers, and Precinct 3 takes oil (on hazardous waste days) and oil filters.
Whole tires. TCEQ regulations require tires to be split, quartered or shredded before they go in a landfill. Haulers that take tires usually charge per tire. Precinct 3 charges $10 off the rim and $20 on the rim.
Refrigerant appliances. Under EPA rules, the final person in the disposal chain must make sure refrigerant is recovered from fridges, freezers and window AC units before final disposal. That's why cities require proof the Freon is out before curbside pickup. See appliance removal.
Propane tanks. Not accepted at Precinct 3. Use a cylinder exchange or refill program at a retailer.
City bulk trash pickup
Each town has its own hauler and rules. What the cities' own pages say:
| Town | Hauler | Bulk pickup |
|---|---|---|
| Conroe | Frontier Waste Solutions (since Oct. 1, 2025) | Once a month, scheduled with Frontier at least two working days ahead; 936-258-9035 |
| The Woodlands | WM, through The Woodlands Township | Schedule with WM two working days before your regular service day (Township's 2022 guide); 800-800-5804 |
| Montgomery (city) | WM | Second Wednesday of each month, plus quarterly heavy-trash weekends at 777 Clepper St. |
| Willis | WM | Last Monday of each month, limit 8 items |
Conroe's bulk rules. The City of Conroe defines bulk waste as appliances, furniture and other household items too large for weekly collection. Not accepted: construction debris, household hazardous waste, concrete, bricks, roofing, vehicles or parts, oils, antifreeze, computers, televisions, household waste, dirt and lumber. Appliances with Freon need it removed by a technician, with a certificate in a sealed plastic bag taped to the front. Brush goes out cut, tied and bundled. The city also sets size, weight and monthly volume limits; check its garbage and recycling page for the current numbers.
Montgomery's heavy-trash weekends. City of Montgomery residents can bring heavy trash to 777 Clepper St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on scheduled weekends, with a utility bill showing garbage service and a Texas driver's license. It's first come, first served until the dumpsters are full. No tires, electronics, batteries, asbestos, harmful chemicals or flammable liquids.
Willis's bulk day. The City of Willis says bulk items can include broken-down moving boxes, furniture, appliances, yard waste and bundled branches. Refrigerators and freezers need certification that the Freon was removed. No household garbage as bulk.
Outside city limits? A Conroe, Montgomery or Willis mailing address doesn't always mean city trash service. If you're outside city limits, your service may come from a utility district, HOA or private hauler. Check your bill for who to call.

When it's cheaper to hire a hauler
Self-hauling wins on fees: a $30 pickup load at Precinct 3 against a $75 to $125 minimum at most haulers in the national guides. A hauler starts to make sense when:
- you don't have a truck or trailer, or the load is too heavy to lift safely
- the items are upstairs, in an attic, or in the backyard
- you'd make several trips to Spring
- it's construction debris beyond the wheelbarrow limit
- you're on a closing or move-out deadline
See the junk removal cost guide for load-size prices, or the FAQ for more answers.
