Garage and Yard Cleanout in Conroe, TX
Garage you can't park in, a falling-down shed, or storm debris in the yard? Send one request; we pass it to one local hauler.
- Free to use
- One local company, not a list
- No obligation to hire
Referral website, not the contractor. How it works
A garage or yard cleanout in Conroe means a crew hauls off a packed garage, an old shed, or brush and storm debris. To get a price, send a request with the form.
Conroe Junk Pros is a referral website, not a junk removal company. We send your request to one independent local junk removal company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
Pricing and scheduling come from that company. Ask for the price in writing before the truck is loaded.
What a garage, shed or yard cleanout covers
Garages. Old furniture, boxes from the last move, broken lawn equipment, exercise machines, bikes, shelving, scrap lumber and the things nobody could decide about. The goal is usually to park a car inside again, or to empty the garage before a sale.
Sheds and outbuildings. Clearing the contents, or taking down the shed itself. Demolition is a bigger job than hauling, so ask whether the company does both.
Yards. Brush piles, fallen limbs, old fencing, swing sets, trampolines, broken patio furniture and landscaping debris.
Storm debris. Limbs, soaked carpet and drywall, ruined furniture and fencing after a flood or windstorm. See the storm section below.
What a garage cleanout costs
Garage and yard jobs are priced by volume. National guides checked in October 2026:
| Load size | This Old House (2026) | Fixr (2025) |
|---|---|---|
| 1/4 truck | $125 to $200 | $125 to $175 |
| 1/2 truck | $200 to $400 | $175 to $375 |
| 3/4 truck | $400 to $600 | $375 to $450 |
| Full truck | $600 to $800 | $450 to $650 |
This Old House puts a full truck at 13 to 17 cubic yards. To size your pile, measure length, width and height in feet, multiply, and divide by 27. Yard debris can be heavy for its volume, especially wet brush, dirt and broken concrete, and some companies charge more for dense loads. Tires usually carry a per-tire fee: Fixr puts tire removal at a $60 to $90 minimum. These are national ranges, not quotes. See the junk removal cost guide for more.
Brush, limbs and Conroe's monthly pickup
If you live in Conroe and the pile is mostly brush, check the city service first. Since October 1, 2025, Frontier Waste Solutions handles Conroe's trash, recycling, and the scheduled monthly bulk and brush pickup. According to the City of Conroe:
- Bagged household, yard and brush waste can go in your garbage cart.
- Limbs and brush go out on your scheduled bulk day, cut, tied with string or twine, and bundled.
- Bulk and brush service must be scheduled with Frontier at least two working days ahead.
- Construction debris, concrete, bricks, roofing, lumber and dirt aren't accepted in bulk service.
The city sets size and weight limits for bundles and a monthly volume cap. Check the City of Conroe's garbage and recycling page or call Frontier at 936-258-9035 for the current numbers. A hauler is the better fit when the pile is bigger than the city takes in a month, when it's mixed with lumber or concrete, or when you can't wait for your bulk week.
Self-hauling yard waste: the Montgomery County Precinct 3 facility in Spring takes branches, shrubs and plants for $20 a truckload, logs under 6 inches across for $20 a truckload, and bagged leaves and grass for $20 a truckload, under its October 2025 fee schedule. It doesn't take dirt, sod or gravel. County residents only, with proof of residency.
Storm and flood debris around Conroe
Montgomery County has a long record of storm cleanups:
- Hurricane Harvey, 2017. The San Jacinto River Authority made an unprecedented release from the Lake Conroe dam, and River Plantation, south of Conroe along the San Jacinto River, saw water up to the second story of some homes and a mandatory evacuation.
- Tropical Depression Imelda, September 2019. The county's emergency management director estimated about 1,500 homes were damaged countywide.
- The 2024 derecho and Hurricane Beryl. By late August 2024, the county had picked up 1.2 million cubic yards of debris, with about 400,000 more estimated, ABC13 reported. Commissioners then halted the contracted debris operation amid disputes over cost.
The lesson from 2024: county debris programs can stop before your pile is gone. After a storm, a junk removal company can haul:
- fallen limbs and broken fencing
- flood-soaked furniture, mattresses and rugs
- wet carpet, pad and drywall cut out during drying
- ruined appliances (ask about refrigerant)
Before anything is hauled, photograph and list damaged items if you'll file an insurance claim, and ask your adjuster what they need to see. Wear gloves and boots around flood debris.
Hazardous items found in garages
Garages and sheds collect things that can't go on a junk truck:
- Liquid paint. Texas law bans free liquids, including paint, from landfills. TCEQ says a can less than a quarter full can be left open to dry, then put in the trash.
- Gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, pesticides, fertilizers and pool chemicals. The Precinct 3 facility at 1122 Pruitt Road takes these on Wednesdays and the third Saturday of the month, for $10 per 5 gallons. Don't mix them.
- Propane and helium tanks. Not accepted at Precinct 3. Use a retailer exchange or refill program.
- Whole tires. TCEQ rules require tires to be split, quartered or shredded before landfill disposal. Precinct 3 takes passenger tires for $10 off the rim or $20 on the rim.
The Montgomery County disposal guide has the full list.
What to ask before you hire
- Is the price by volume? What if the pile is bigger than the photos show?
- Do you charge more for heavy loads like brush, dirt or concrete?
- Will you take down the shed or swing set, or only haul it?
- Do you sweep the garage floor when you're done?
- Do you recycle scrap metal and donate usable items?

Common questions
How much does a garage cleanout cost?
Most garage cleanouts are priced by truck volume. National guides put a half truck at about $175 to $400 and a full truck at about $450 to $800 (Fixr and This Old House). A packed two-car garage can fill more than one truck. The company we refer you to sets its own price.
Will the city pick up my brush and limbs?
Conroe residents can put cut, tied and bundled limbs out on their scheduled monthly bulk and brush day with Frontier Waste Solutions. Bagged yard waste can also go in the garbage cart. Check the city's page for current size and weight limits.
Can a junk removal company tear down a shed?
Some can. Shed demolition is part carpentry and part hauling. Ask whether the company takes down the structure or only hauls it once it's down, and whether removing a concrete slab is included.
What can't go in a garage cleanout?
Liquid paint, gasoline, oil, pesticides, pool chemicals and propane tanks. Those are household hazardous waste. Montgomery County residents can take most of them to the Precinct 3 facility on Wednesdays and the third Saturday of the month.
